Last night I preached at Mesa Hills Bible Church on the topic of the messianic kingdom from Isaiah 4:2-6. God’s promise is that He is going to send His Son back to this world to establish an eternal kingdom of righteousness and peace. Four key promises come out of this passage: (1) A righteous King (v. 2a), (2) A fruitful and prosperous earth (v. 2b), (3) A purified humanity (v. 3), and (4) a renewed dwelling of God in the presence of man (vv. 4-6). Isaiah is not unique in telling us that Christ will have an earthly kingdom. The fact is that these promises are repeated all throughout the Old And New Testament writings.

The ultimate phase of God’s restoration will come at the end of the 1,000 year millennial kingdom when God creates a new heavens and a new earth (Rev. 21-22). When that day arrives, there will be no more sin, curse, or death.

I look eagerly for the return of Christ so that He might purge this world of the wickedness that permeates our present existence. This past week was a hard one since we had a memorial service for one of our church’s teenage girls who had been murdered a week earlier. Adam’s sin has brought incalculable pain and suffering, but the Bible says Jesus Christ died to take the punishment for our sins. One day the redemption will be complete. Let us pray for that day to come quickly.

3 Thoughts on “Only One Solution”

  • The kingdom of God on earth truly is the answer for all the world’s problems. The Lord Jesus is the only one who can fulfill God’s command to Adam to reign over the earth.
